Feelin’ PHAT February!

If you know me at all, you know I am LATE. FOR. EVERYTHING!😳 I once read that being late is a sign of optimism, so that’s what I’m going with; you think you can squeeze in a few things, when really you should hop in the freakin car and just be early for once. I need a voice of reason in my life…maybe someday!🤞🏻 Ummm, where was I going with this…

Oh yeah, I’m always late. Very fitting because I’m starting my New Year today, February 1st!

If you read my “Bald Spot” blog post, then you know that one week ago today I found a bald spot on my head. If you haven’t read the post, read it here “It’s okay to be Scared.”

The good news is that I received my blood work today and everything looks great!!! Woohoo! What a relief! That being said, I need to work on feelin’ my phattest!

I have been teaching Zumba Fitness classes, as well as other group fitness classes for 9 years now. Before I had “baby” Owen, 21 months ago, I was teaching 14 classes a week! It was great, I got paid to work out and enjoyed every second of it. I was in the best shape of my life. Once Owen came along the “mom guilt” set in and I reduced my schedule because I felt like an awful mother for leaving every night at dinner time. Long story short, I need to get back in the groove!

Exercise, health and wellness are so intertwined with one another. The more I exercise, the more I crave water and the more I want to eat healthier food. Today I made the decision to bust out my food journal and get things back on track.

For the month of February, I am vowing to myself that I’m going to try to live my phattest life yet. I plan to drink more water, exercise for 28 minutes a day and use the 80/20 eating rule. Eat clean for 80 percent of the time and eat what I want for the other 20 percent of the time. Just envision me chanting “CARBS, CARBS, CARBS” for the 20 percent. I’m not kidding about that at all…maybe I’ll go Facebook live while I’m chanting! 😂

I am interested to see what will happen with my hair during this month. The best I can do is try, so I’m gonna give it all I’ve got! So far so good, I’ve been drinking a ton of water, eating plenty of healthy foods and it’s 5pm, so I’m already making progress! I’m hoping that I can create a new routine for myself in this “New Year.” I have absolutely NO intentions of slowing down any time soon, but it will be good for me to get my mind, body and spirit aligned once again! Wish me luck!

Xoxo,

Shannon

PS- any other moms have “mom guilt!?” It really sucks doesn’t it? Maybe that should be the next blog post 🤔
