2019, the year of the blog!

2019, the year of the blog!

***WARNING: I have undiagnosed A.D.D., so I may go off on a tangent or two, or three. I am the living version of the “oh look, a squirrel” meme. If you think it’s hard to follow me, you should have tried living in my head this year….the squirrel population in New Hampshire was OUT. OF. CONTROL.  I really had a hard time keeping it together! 😉

Moving on….this year really started off with one heckuva bang (very fitting because I own a retail fireworks store).  Am I the only one who feels like New Year’s Day never really counts!? It’s the day I finish eating all of the delicious food in my house (hi, my name is Shannon and I’m addicted to carbs and drumsticks, not the chicken, the ice cream cones with the wonderful chunk of chocolate in the bottom) before beginning a “clean diet” which usually lasts about a day or two.

My new year starts on the 2nd of January and this year it began at 9am at mediation with my soon to be ex husband. Actually, I wish my day started at 9am! I’m a single mom of two amazing little men, Levi (5) and Owen (19 months), so my day really began at 5:30am (I remember when 8am used to seem SO early) when I was packing lunches, getting clothes ready and frantically getting  together for the start of the week….why oh why do I ALWAYS wait til the last minute!?😩 I strive to be a mom who actually empties out the lunch boxes when the kids get home from school, but I’m not holding my breath. It’s the thought that counts right!? #goals🤷🏼‍♀️

I got the kids up, fed them, bathed them and got them to childcare/school (on time, which NEVER happens for me) then headed to the courthouse where I was two minutes early (early is not in my vocabulary).

My husband and I have been together for 14 years and this was the end of our chapter. It was incredibly bittersweet. Thankfully, we were able to come to an agreement and sign the papers to go our different ways. I walked out of the courthouse crying, but felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. We had grown apart in the last few years and sadly, had gotten to the point that we were toxic for each other.

So, here I am. Not quite FEELIN as PHAT as I once have, but I’m BAAAACCCCKKKKKK!! I’m ready to turn the page and begin a new chapter. Life has given me a few lemons and I’ve decided I’m going to cut those bitches up (New Years resolution broken…maybe I’ll get rid of my potty mouth in 2020, but probably not) where was I? Oh yes, I’m going to cut those lemons in half and use them as a natural skin toner because I’m pretty sure I read on Pinterest that it will reduce the size of my pores! I’m so gullible.

All joking aside, I read a quote somewhere that said “you can’t heal if you don’t reveal,” so here I am. I’m Shannon Obey MacMichael and this is my journey to finding the new me. Shannon 2.0. This is the year that I will be FEELIN PHAT again! ~Positive, healthy, active and toned~ I want my little men to grow up with the best version of me!

I invite you to follow me on my journey. I’m a newly divorced, single stay at home mom running two businesses, a fireworks store and a fitness studio. I teach Zumba, Barre, PiYo and other fitness classes. I’m the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and the Vice President of the PTO. I’ve always had a love for dance and this is not a dress rehearsal, so I’m taking the main stage! I have a mile long list of dreams, goals and aspirations and I’m ready to kill it!

This blog will focus on the joys and obstacles of motherhood, business, exercise, healthy eating, style and everything in between. I’ve always been a private person and it can be lonely sometimes when you’re going through a rough patch. If I can help one person know that they are not alone, and help them feel connected in some way, then I will feel fulfilled. Thanks in advance for the follow, I’m SO excited to see what the future holds!!

Xoxo,

Shannon
